Maple is our strongest and most durable hardwood in a clean, creamy blonde that brings a bright, airy feel to any kitchen. Where Walnut is bold and Cherry is warm, Maple is fresh. It's the board that makes any countertop feel cleaner, more intentional. Our Maple end-grain board is handmade from start to finish, with an exceptionally tight, uniform grain that's as satisfying to work on as it looks. Over time, Maple develops a gentle golden warmth — slowly deepening from pale cream toward honey, building character with every meal without ever losing its clean, timeless appeal.

This isn't just a cutting board — it's a 3-4 day labor of craftsmanship. We start with hand-selected premium North American Maple, chosen for its exceptional density, striking grain pattern, and natural richness. From there, it's precision cutting, careful assembly, patient sanding, and a hand-applied food-safe finish.

Simply choose your size, decide if you'd like a juice groove, and we'll head to the workshop to make it happen.

Please note: The Minimus doesn't offer a juice groove to keep the full surface available for cutting.

Product Highlights:

  • Handmade from start to finish using carefully selected, sustainably sourced Hard Maple.

  • End-grain construction for exceptional durability, gentle on knives, and minimal knife marks.

How to Care for Your Board

Daily Maintenance

  • Wash with warm soapy water after each use
  • Dry immediately with a clean towel
  • Stand upright or lay flat to air dry—never leave in standing water

Monthly Conditioning

  • Apply food-safe mineral oil or board cream once a month (or when wood looks dry)
  • Let oil soak in for 20-30 minutes, then wipe away excess
  • This prevents cracking and maintains the board's water resistance

Never

  • Put in dishwasher
  • Soak in water
  • Use harsh chemicals or bleach
  • Leave in direct sunlight for extended periods

Why End-Grain Construction Matters

End-grain boards are the gold standard for a reason. The wood fibers stand vertically, so when you cut, your knife slides between the fibers instead of severing them. This creates three major benefits:

  1. Keeps knives sharper: Less resistance = less dulling
  2. Self-healing surface: Fibers close back up after cuts, resisting grooves and bacteria
  3. Superior durability: Lasts exponentially longer than edge-grain or plastic alternatives

It's more labor-intensive to build (hence the 3-4 day process), but the result is a board that performs better, lasts longer, and protects your investment in quality knives.

Why End Grain Matters

End grain construction improves durability while extending the life of your knives.

  • Better for Health

No microplastics leeching into your food, and wood's natural antibacterial properties keep your prep space cleaner

Wood fibers stand vertical, so your blade glides between them instead of severing them—keeping your edge sharper, longer

  • Self-Healing

Fibers naturally close back up after each cut, resisting deep grooves and bacteria buildup

  • Built to Last
